Handmade Gifts 1/24/2015

Before the holidays I put it out there for you to give me suggestions
of what you would like to do in this class.
Here is the first suggestion I received.
A perpetual flip calendar.
This is the prototype,
I am in the process of refining a few hiccups that I encountered along the way.
But you will get the idea.
Guess what paper I used for this sample, yup Echo Park!
This class will be Saturday January 24 at 10:30 am
cost is $15.

This class will be slightly different from my other classes because
I want you to pick the paper that you will use in your project.
So stop by Scraps Galore, register for the class
and pick one or two coordinating pieces of card stock.
I used one pattern for the base and one for the calendar.
Please keep in mind that we will be stamping on the calendar pieces
so your paper must be able to show the stamping.
Give your selection to whomever is working they will bag it with your name and leave it for me.
If I have any questions I will call you, (so make sure I have a phone number)
Not sure what paper you want, I will be glad to help you pick out the perfect paper.
Whew! So all these choices need to be made by Saturday January 17
so I can take it home and prep your kit.

Seriously if you have any questions, leave your name and number at the store and I will call you,
or email me at suekapp@comcast.net.

Update: Version 2.0
I worked out some of the issues I ran into with the first sample.
Now we're good to go!
Same applies as above, pick your own paper!

12/16/2014 class @CP2

Last class of 2014, unbelievable!
Wishing each and everyone of you a happy and healthy holiday season.

Today's card is actually quick & easy so we can get to eating and celebrating!
I used two items that I have used this past year, nice to get a second class out of them, lol.

In January 2014 we made this card with an Impression Obsession stamp.

In March 2014 we used this window die and a lovely spring time stamp.

This Tuesday we will be creating this card with both of the products above.
So a little stamping, a little coloring and we have this lovely winter scene.

Please bring your basic class kit including
I used brushed corduroy & a blending tool
to add some depth.
I used water color pencils and a water brush.
you can use your favorite coloring medium.
That should do it!

Holiday Party will follow class today
(approximately noon)
at Whole Hog Cafe
9880 Montgomery Blvd NE
87111
Everyone is welcome whether you are in class or not.
We will celebrate Prissy & Liane birthdays.
We will have a card exchange for the holidays,
bring a card get a card, yes sign the card.
If you have any questions please email me,
suekapp@comcast.net
I will be taking a head count so that Whole Hog can set up the tables.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend,
Happy and Healthy New Year to all.

12/9/2014 class @CP2

Those of you who were in class yesterday got a sneak peek of this card.
I bought this die last year when there were heavy discounts on holiday merchandise.
So it's time for it to come out of the box and be used!
Love the detail down to the laces, Tim is such a clever man.
I searched high and low, doubled back and could not find my snowflake embossing folder!
Plan B, swirls that would mimic the movement of the snowflakes.

Then it occurred to me that I had used the snowflake folder on holiday cards, duh.
Found it, so now I had to make a second card, I also switched the orientation.
Not sure which I like better so the choice will be yours.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
edger ( brown or silver)
wink of stella (if you don't want to use stickles)
I used the following distress inks and foam blenders
broken china
iced spruce
antique linen
gathered twigs
silver or brushed pewter acrylic paints

That should do it, enjoy your week and I hope you find some time to get inky!

12/2/2014 class @CP2

Happy Thanksgiving to all,
may you be surrounded with love.
Just a reminder there will be no class this Tuesday.
Here's the card we will be doing on Tuesday December 2,
We will be using the Stamp Doctors pop a top. (thanks Bette!)
This is a very versatile die and we will be creating with it again.
I also pulled out a package of Mr. Holtz's Kraft Glassine paper.
When it first hit the market this was a must have, but until today I hadn't used it.
It reminds me of a waxed brown bag. Very cool stuff.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
brown edger
ballpoint glue pen
blender with felt for alcohol inks
(I used gold & Terra Cotta)
that should do it, stay warm and see you soon!

PS just and update about our holiday get together.
We will meet at Whole Hog Cafe on Montgomery after class on 12/16.
We should get there approximately noon-ish
(for those who can't make it to class)
We will celebrate Prissy & Liane birthdays.
We will have a holiday card exchange, give one get one.
Cake will be supplied by David.
Will start taking a head count next week so we can let them
know how many people will be there.
