8/16/2018 Thursday's @ NDB

Birthday party today, come celebrate
Kathleen, Jenna & Elaine!

Today's card is a faux stained glass technique.
We are starting off with the Sparkler Butterfly layer set
from Birch Press or wish.com

I colored both example with sharpies.
On the first one I used Wink of Stella,
a great option for those of you who do not like to wait.

On the second card I used stickles over
the colored background.
Glossy accents and Nuvo Drops are also good options.
I used clear products so the colors would come through.
You can also fill in with colored dimensional products like
perfect pearls, colored stickles or Nuvo.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
sharpies or other alcohol based markers
(you don't want water soluble products)
dimensional product clear or colored
liquid glue
scissor
gold edger
poker

That should do it,
See you Thursday!

large round paint brush (#10)

2/8/2018 Thursday's @ NDB

Love this birch tree from Tim Holtz/Sizzix.
Today I decided to go for a faux patina effect.

If you want to see what we previously did with this die you can find it here.
https://kappkards.blogspot.com/2016/08/912016-thursdays-at-scraps-galore.html

This technique can be used on a wide variety of cards.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
I used a liquid glue as pictured below,
I'm sure even elmers glue would work or a glue stick
because the Zig two way glue dries very quickly
and there's a lot spaces that need to be glued.
I will bring mine incase you don't have any.
Piece of scrap paper/computer paper (to glue on)
Distress Oxides and foam blenders
peacock feather
frayed burlap
Gold pigment pad
gold edger
scissor
poker

That should do it, have a great week and see you Thursday!

Here are my attempts.

including
black edger
Distress Oxides and foam blender
salty ocean
peacock feathers
picked raspberry
wilted violet
twisted citron

1/11/018 Thursday's @ NDB

NOTE: we will be celebrating Katie & Barb G. birthdays next week, 1/18

Hello all, hope you are getting back into routine after all the holidays!
Today's card features Clarity Stamps
https://claritystamp.com/
out of the UK.
This stamp is called Lone Cyprus.
I really like the round format and it comes with a stencil.
I was quite surprised when I put it in my MISTI and had to remove the foam shim.
This clear stamp is as thick as a red rubber stamp, wow!

So as you can see I tried many color combinations
and two different types of paper.
The technique for the background is cling wrap!

I finally settled on two blues.
This one is on a semi gloss coated paper,
and the one we will be doing.

This one is the same two colors but on glossy card stock
you can barely see the difference.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
Distress ink broken china
Distress ink mermaid lagoon
brayer
spray bottle w/water
distress markers or any water based marker
crushed olive
mermaid lagoon
black soot
stencil used crushed  olive distress ink, foam blenders
black fine tip sharpie or micron pen for outline work.
black edger

That's it, have a great week!

11/9/2017 Thursday's @ NDB

Today we meet in the Community Room.

Nothing says Hanukkah like latkes,
fried potatoes, yum!

Lawn Fawn came out with this Hanukkah set.
Rather than go with the traditional Menorah
I played with the latkes.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
scissors
ballpoint glue pen
tweezers
silver edger
coloring medium
(I used colored pencils and a colorless blender.)

That will do it,
have a wonderful week.

8/24/2017 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

Color layering stamps are all the rage right now!
Hero Arts has many of these sets.
Today we're using the Seahorse set.
We will be stamping in archival inks so we can apply
distress stains to the background of the circle.
I love this My Favorite Things background,
so much movement.
I also added a touch of wink of stella
even though you can't see it on the scan.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
broken china distress stain
edger
wink of stella clear

That's all for today,
thanks for looking!
