7/24/2012 class @CP2

Hot off the craft desk ... literally!
My sis and I were having a conversation about pearl ex/perfect pearls after she took a class in
San Antonio. I started looking through all the scans of cards I have made over the years
and came across this one from 2004. Low and behold the same technique!

Since I have a gallon of Elmer's left over from a project my daughter was working on last semester,
I figure why not revisit this technique!
So, here is the card for this Tuesday ...
did you know Stampers Anonymous is bring back some of their older stamps,
so glad I never throw anything out, (don't let my husband hear that one!)

The usual class kit today and make sure
your gold pen or ink pad to edge with is in there too!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend *Ü*

Tim's app ....

Still working on Tuesdays sample ... yesterday's class was a blast, thanks to all who attended.
My stomach is demanding some lunch and then I will get back to the sample. In the mean time check out Tim's new free app for iPhone and android. I downloaded mine last night ... later!

7/17/2012 class @CP2

Growing up on Long Island one takes for granted the ocean, it's always there,
longing for the colors of the sea and sand I came up with this card.
The main element reminds me of sea glass worn & frosted.
How this technique works is quite puzzling but it did!
There are quite a few steps to this card but in my opinion it's worth it, I love that frosted glass piece.
Along with your regular class kit please include if you have it,
glue dots
gold edger, pen or ink pad
sanding block
applicator handle (for felt & foam)
for alcohol ink application

7/10/2012 class @CP2

Today's class started at lunch last Tuesday! They had these wonderful vellum printed place mats! Everyone ooh and ah, talking about the possibilities. On the way out the waiter handed me a few extra so I decided to use them on a card for everyone! So I took out my sizzix/Tim pine cone die to make roses. After a few failed attempts I went to the ranger website to watch Tim do it. He said the process works best with card stock, by golly he is right. Plane B was put into action with my new sizzlet tattered garland strip. Then I looked at my new embossing folder and wondered if I could run two pieces of card stock through it rather than having to line up the design. Found some oval pieces left over from the clownfish card we did a while back and viola the card was done!

Not much stamping today, but I really like this card!
Along with your regular class kit please include
glue dots
black edger

Sneak Peak: Quick & Easy Cards at Scraps Galore

Last year many of you told us that your holiday cards were finished by time we did those classes.
We may be jumping the gun here but we are doing Christmas in July.
Elizabeth was kind enough to rush an order into Penny Black and we received these stickers!
Samples will be at the store and right here within a day or so.
In the meantime here's a sneak peak!
So, Monday morning call Scraps Galore to reserve your spot, 858 1080.

Since we were ordering, we figured why not order more stickers since we know how every one loves Penny Black stickers, so this is what we received. This is a real teaser since Liz and I haven't decided which month we will be using these. Stay tuned & check back often!

That's all for now ... off to the treadmill!

Oh wait, I just couldn't resist (or I'm procrastinating)
one more sneak peak, again date to be determined ...
now I'm really off to exercise!
Enjoy your day ... *Ü*

My husband is on his way home, hip hip hooray!
The puppy continues to be a challenge, I think I'm just too darn old for this!

Anyway, onto this weeks card. We will be using the new Ranger Patina Paints, I think there are a lot of possibilities here, beautiful colors, opaque and bendable.

How can something so small and innocent create such havoc in our household?
Yes my son rescued this puppy from a rest stop in Las Vegas, NM.
He is the sweetest little thing, but there is definitely a learning curve for Alex and Ace.
I just hope I have the strength and patients to make it through it!

Now on to the real reason you are here ... Tuesdays card!
The technique is called seamless tiers and I think their are many possibilities here.
I made several already!

You will definitely need to edge this card so make sure you
bring a pen or black ink pad.
Also include in your kit
temporary adhesive
foam tape or pop dots
pencil
stamping foam/pad
I used chalks to add color, if you prefer something else bring it along!

On June 26 we will celebrate Evelyn and Caryl Ann's birthday.

Tuesday at CP2 Birthday group

The members of the Tuesday class at China Phoenix 2 have been celebrating each others birthdays for some time now.
The requirements are to attend class on a frequent basis (it wouldn't be fair to just show up on your birthday month, now would it!) and when we celebrate that month's birthdays bring a card for those birthday folks. Usually a hand made card but any would be acceptable.
When your birthday comes around you will receive cards from the rest of the group.
We also celebrate with baked goodies, which our in house extraordinary baker,
Renee delights us with each month!

6/12/2012 class @CP2

Good morning ... life is good,
we have functioning swamp coolers and
starting to count down when Evan comes home ... 2 weeks!

On to this weeks class ... today we are making faux washi tape. This translucent masking tape from Japan can be quite pricey, plus each color/pattern is cuter than the next, needless to say I couldn't make a decision and I couldn't have them all! Many American companies have begun producing similar products and we have used Tim's tissue tape which is just one of many.
So I began exploring the web and found two different tutorials. Well today we are going with the simpler one just to get a feel for it!

This is the card we will be making ...
Wait till you see how easy it is , haha!

So now I have all these scrap pieces on my desk that I was playing with,
so I made this card for my Father in Law, it's in the mail, but you get the idea.

And yes the center piece is crooked,
didn't notice it until I went to adhere it, believe me he will never notice!
Just hope he finds it funny!

Today's class kit, just the usual stuff. We are working with distress inks and our foam blending tools so if you would like to bring yours and your favorite color inks you won't have to wait on mine!
Enjoy the day!

Today we will be stamping with distress stains going for that water color look.
I tried two different color combo's, today we will have choices, each card will be unique.

Along with your usual class kit make sure to bring your craft sheet and black edger.

will be definitely looking forward to being in class next week! See you all then!

Sammie Oaks

Today we lost a friend, and it saddens my heart but I am grateful Sammie's suffering is over. There were many times she would tell me that she was ready and to be happy for her when she passes. I know she told many of you the same thing. She is finally at peace.

Sammie joined the Tuesday China Phoenix 2 class several years ago, brought there by her good friend Elizabeth Forbes. One thing I learned quickly was that she was meticulous, as I learned this about Sammie I would always be sure to cut extra paper as her stamping had to be perfect. We would laugh about this as she would ask me for another piece of card stock. The cards Sammie made for our monthly celebration were works of art, every detail carefully executed. Her eye for color was amazing. I soon found out that she was a fiber artist and paper was a fairly new medium for her.
She was a very talented artist.

Sammie has touched so many of our lives and will remain in our hearts.
So at Sammie's request, be happy for her.
Take a moment and think back to a happy encounter with this incredible woman.
Here's to you Sammie!

Give me a NY blizzard any day!

OK, so I know it's Sunday and I should be posting this weeks sample, but I am in Wichita, Kansas and the sample is on my home computer. I cannot wait to get back to Albuquerque!! I do not plan on coming back anytime soon! Arrival was uneventful despite the warnings from everyone you spoke to, Kansas was in for some rough weather, lol! It was a beautiful sunny day when Evan picked me up from the airport. I had Saturday all planned out, to visit two local craft stores here. Saturday I woke up to overcast skies & wind. Turn on the TV and there are tornado warnings. Decided to scrap my plans to shop when they said that there was a 90% chance of a tornado hitting Wichita, I was staying right here on base. There was talk of cancelling the awards ceremony which is why I was here! So the day was spent watching & waiting. Fortunately our unit was a tornado safe shelter, in the bathroom. Of course the estimated arrival of the tornado kept changing. The commander decided we had time to hold the banquet which was downtown at the Hyatt. So several hundred people arrived in their mess dress uniforms and spouses in their finest. It was so weird being closed off from the world in one of the ballrooms, of course many people had their cell phones under the table keeping up on things. Colonel Mason began the proceedings by saying they were going to move quickly so everyone could get out of there which he did.
We drive back to base just as the rains begin and the sirens start blaring, get out of our party clothes and start packing everything. Fill the bathroom with essentials and are glued to the TV. It was amazing how they were tracking the eye of the tornado, and estimating when it would hit. Of course one minute it's heading directly towards the base, then it shifts and barely misses the base, then back on track for the base. You get the picture! Then the TV would go black and a message would state that the tornado is on base and to take cover. Then the news, that it shifted slightly. This went on for about an hour, the longest hour of my life!
Anyway, the tornado shifted slightly, did not hit base but was so close that the road leading to base was closed this morning. Now I hope our flight is able to take off, get me out of Kansas!
Well, the plan is to see you all Tuesday, will try to remember to post sample tomorrow, if I forget you will have to forgive me,
.
