Q&E Cards @ NDB 3/17/2018

Welcome to Q&E 2.0
I decided to push the concept of Q&E by creating some cards that utilize
dies that create unique cuts or folds.
Most of them are from Sizzix and I can get you any info you may want.
This class will be limited to the first 10 people due to the amount of prep work.
Please let me know if you would like me to continue with this type of cards
or go back to the basic Q&E cards.

This part of the drop in series, the blue is cut with the frame and words in one piece.
there are a variety of words you can drop in.

This is the Butterfly Gate fold.
The black portion is cut at once then folded.

This is part of the 3D pop up series.
Again a variety of sentiments that pop up.

This is called a center step card.

One of many flip it dies, this features a triple circle.
I've extended the base so you have somewhere to write a message.

This framelit drop in cuts the frame and shadow.
then you cut the word which fits perfectly on the shadow.

The last few are basic Q&E cards.

That's all for now, please email me with any questions or  requests!
Have a great week.

3/1/2018 Thursday's @ NDB

I feel like I say this every month but
wow It's March already!

Before we get on to today's card
we will be celebrating Sue R. and barbara M. Birthday on 3/22.
Also North Domingo Baca will be closed for cleaning
the last week of this month so there will be no class on 3/29.

Today's card is using Laurel Burch dog stamps and dies by Stampendous.
I was going for a modern version of the barnyard animal stack.
The background is using distress oxides or distress inks.
The coloring is sharpie, watercolor brush markers or watercolor pencils.
I will have a variety of sentiments for you to choose from
that have been left over from other classes.

2/22/2018 Thursday's @ NDB

I found a tutorial on coloring white tissue paper with a variety of mediums.
After coloring you move the tissue to dry naturally or with a heat gun.
Every time I move the tissue it fell apart in my hands, grrrr!
Walk away from the craft desk.
After some thought I decided to glue the tissue to a piece of card stock
before adding wet mediums.

Ultimately I decided to use distress stains because
1. I own a bunch
2. they're a fluid medium
3. I wanted bold colors
or
You can put any water based ink pad on a craft sheet and mist with water,
pull out your watercolors and give those a try
or any product that you own that is water soluble.

So I like the first two samples but something was nagging at me.
Mounted it on black paper, now I'm happy!

The die is from wish.com.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
glue stick
non stick craft mat
sanding block
poker
tweezers
gold edger
spray bottle w/water
coloring medium suggest
yellows, oranges and reds

That should do it,
have a wonderful week!

2/15/2018 Thursday's @ NDB

Today I decided to play with an older product that many of us have in our stash!
Twinkling H20.
They are little pots of watercolor with a bang of shine from the mica that's in them.
They are made by Luminatre
I believe they may come in pallet form, although I can't find mine!

They show up on dark colored surfaces.
I used a Sizzix set Blooming Florals to stamp and gold emboss.
Sizzix JLong Framelits Die/Stamp Blooming Floral
Then colored with the twinkling H20.
Wait till you see that shine in person.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
Twinkling H20 if you own them
small paint brush or water brush
non stick craft mat or small container for water
spray bottle with water
gold edger

That should do it!
Have a great week,

2/8/2018 Thursday's @ NDB

Love this birch tree from Tim Holtz/Sizzix.
Today I decided to go for a faux patina effect.

If you want to see what we previously did with this die you can find it here.
https://kappkards.blogspot.com/2016/08/912016-thursdays-at-scraps-galore.html

This technique can be used on a wide variety of cards.

Please bring your basic class kit
including
I used a liquid glue as pictured below,
I'm sure even elmers glue would work or a glue stick
because the Zig two way glue dries very quickly
and there's a lot spaces that need to be glued.
I will bring mine incase you don't have any.
Piece of scrap paper/computer paper (to glue on)
Distress Oxides and foam blenders
peacock feather
frayed burlap
Gold pigment pad
gold edger
scissor
poker

That should do it, have a great week and see you Thursday!
