I had a very hard time focusing on a card for today, so I decided to go with what's in my heart.

Life is too short and we need to cherish every moment,

fleeting like a butterfly.

So I hope you will join me today and maybe experience the catharsis that I did.

( the purging of the emotions or relieving of emotional tensions, 

especially through certain kinds of art)

I apologize to all of you that I didn't get this information out to, including the loss of Glenn Frey.

Many of you know long time friend Barbara Goldsmith from many classes over the years, 

She has lost someone very near and dear to her, more information can be seen here.

If any one is need need of her address email me.

I also received this from a neighbor of Sylvia Brozic, I have emailed her back and if I receive any more information I will share it.

"Your friend and card member, Sylvia Brozic, has passed away. She had a heart attack on February 11, 2013. She went quickly after a short illness. My husband was taking her to an eye appointment and stopped breathing. He rushed her to the closest Lovelace urgent care on Ladera where she was revived. She had a few more episodes and was taken to the emergency room at Lovelace downtown. She had another episode there and the doctors tried to revive her for 15 minutes but couldn't bring our friend back. She died at 4:00 p.m.

As per her wishes, she will be cremated in the next few days and buried at Sunset Memorial. We don’t have an exact date but it will be in the newspaper soon. We plan on having a memorial for her there.

She left my husband, Michael and I as her Trustees. We lived across the street from her for the last 11 years. She had no family she spoke about, but always considered us and our family as her own.

We are also planning an Estate Sell at the end of this month and the beginning of April. Sylvia has a tremendous amount of crafts! I figure 3 rooms full and a garage full. While going through some her paper work I found the list of her Card Club friends and thought I would let you know of her passing. I think she would want you to know about the many craft items that will be available soon.

I saw this card with the background described as faux pillow top.

So that's what I played with this week, 

had to use one of the new stamp images from Tim Holtz.

So here we go ...

The ones you will see in class have some tissue tape added, just thought it needed something.

Class kit

your favorite color dye or distress ink pad

blending tool and foam

tea dye distress ink pad

of course I will bring a variety of colors,

I only have three blending tools, so if

you have one bring it along to speed up the process.

Liz Frey, the original owner of Scraps Galore and my teaching partner

lost her husband, Glenn suddenly on Tuesday.

I can't believe I'm saying this but this is the last class of February,

where did the month go? I am working on March samples, 

so that's a good thing as Martha would say!

Today's card is based on the layout of another card I saw,

took a bit to figure it out but I'm happy with the end result.

Today we will be celebrating Linda's birthday.

This month we will be celebrating Linda's birthday on the 19th.

She is unable to come to class this week.

Today's card is for my brothers birthday. 

I had this stamp on my desk and came home with some new water color pencils,

graphitint by Derwent. So I stamped the fish on a scrap, and fell in love with the colors.

Also sitting on a pile on my desk was cheese cloth, I planned to do a beach card with sea shells.

So changed gears and created this background piece which looks like fishing net. 

The catch of the day is proudly mounted with the net behind. 

I think my brother will like it.

Along with your basic kit please include

Today's class is an easy treat box decorated for Valentines day. 

I made a bunch of these for the holidays for my nieces and nephews,

decorated for the specific holiday and gender,

 I enclosed a check in the little shopping bag and candies in the box part.

They were a hit!

So here's the Valentine version, great for kids, grand-kids, nieces or nephews,

anyone who enjoys a sweet treat!

I either spoke with or left a message for all the regulars,

 class is cancelled today.

Although the sun is out, it's so cold, the ice and snow in 

my neck of the woods isn't melting.

Wishing each and everyone a healthy and happy 2013

I have had a wonderful start to the new year and have the inky fingers to prove it!

My sister arrived on Thursday and we haven't stopped. One of the highlights of this trip is that

my sister, my daughter, a friend and I spent yesterday in Santa Fe taking Dyan Reaveley's class. 

What an experience, and we go back today for another class. 

If you are not familiar with her put her name into you tube and you can see her in action!

OK, so enough about me, here's the project we will be doing in this Tuesday's class.

Of course we need to start the New Year off with a brand spanking new calendar.

This came out a little dark for my taste but I will have plenty of ink colors for you to choose from.

The last class for 2012, where did the year go!

Time to start thinking about thank you cards for all the gifts you have received through out this holiday season. Of course mine have to be hand made. 

I went with a simple black and white theme, but any colors would still be elegant.

I did a little black edging, other than that the usual class kit.

Today's card has several inspirations. 

I have been seeing many cards that are stamped and 

then cut to incorporate the faux tile technique.

Then I received a thanksgiving card from a friend and

 the focal piece was dry embossed and glazed like one big tile.

So we are combining the two!

Think Mediterranean, the warmth of the sun and the blue sea.
