Happy July everyone!

We're going to start the month off with a lesson in distress ink blending.

One of my favorite things to do is to begin with a white surface

 and make it come alive with color.

Please bring your basic class kit

including

non stick craft mat

spray bottle w/water

glue pen

foam tape

poker

gold edger 

glitter markers, wink of stella or stickles

I will bring several color options or 

you can bring two distress colors

 for the background and two for the butterfly

along with foam blenders.

We will celebrate Kathleen's birthday on the 21st!

Hello all, hope you're staying cool, this heat has been brutal!

A little whimsy in today's card, just love those Tim Holtz crazy cats!

Their eye's say it all.

hickory smoke or pumice stone pad

blenders & foam for each color

fire brick & worn lipstick markers

6/23/2016 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

Today we will be celebrating Evelyn & Sara's birthdays.

If you would like, bring them a card. 

I have several friends who have July birthdays

 and our spouses served together in the USAF.

Every year I try to send them a patriotic card.

So here is this year's card.

I tried several color combinations , 

we will be creating the first one in today's class.

navy edger

foam tape

I used 

barn door ink pad

blueprint ink pad 

foam blenders for each color

That should do it, stay cool during this crazy heat wave!

6/16/2016 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

We will celebrate Evelyn & Sara's birthdays on the 23rd,

When I envisioned today's card I saw it as a masculine card.

The metal and the embossed pattern screamed manly!

Then I tried one with feminine colors and that looks good also.

Today you will have your color options as well as the sentiment.

We are using alcohol inks, perfect for non porous surfaces.

Be warned, they permanently stain everything.

So do not wear your favorite clothing today.

They are so much fun, I promise it will be worth it.

6/9/2016 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

Today we will be making a fairly simple card 

that took me three tries before I was satisfied, lol!

A little bit of everything today, dry embossing, stamping and die cutting.

I will mount the background stamp on my Misti, 

as you can see I did not do that before I stamped this card, live and learn! 

Here is the final version, I will bring the others to class 

so you can see how it evolved to this point.

Unique - Saturday June 11, 2016

This month's unique class will be focusing on 

techniques  with watercolor crayons, 

specifically the new Tim Holtz Distress Crayons.

In this class we will cover at least 15 different techniques.

Some of the samples have more than one on it.

I have also written up a guide for your future reference.

You can keep the cards as a technique reference

 or use them on a card, the choice is yours.

Kits will not be available due to the hands on nature of this class.

It's starting to feel a lot like summer!

Today's card features this sweet woman

 from Art Impressions and 

Sizzix 3D drop in dies.

Please bring your basic class kit

including

bone folder

ballpoint liquid glue

tweezers

poker

black edger

favorite coloring medium

and necessary tools (water brush etc)

flesh colored mediums

I used watercolor pencils,

if you would like to use mine please bring 

paint brush

spray bottle with water

non stick craft mat

I believe only Evelyn has a birthday this month,

so we'll make a plan next week.

Today we celebrate Lotte's birthday!

Today's card is a stamp from Technique Tuesday Greenhouse edition.

I love this series of stamps, perfect size for cards.

For those of you not familiar with this series,

 stamps are released monthly and once they're gone they don't produce any more.

I'm pretty sure we still have this set instock since it's relatively new set.

Next week we will be celebrating Lotte's birthday.

This week's card caught my attention as unique

 but without tons of cutting & scoring.

It's called a floating strip Z fold.

We will be using distress inks & blenders to achieve the colors.

Tims cut and emboss butterflies and

Memory Box mixed media dies.

I love cards that have a unique movement to them.

I love Art Impression Stamps.

Put them together and you have this fun stacker card.

The hardest part was choosing which stamp to buy!

I went with the dogs since the top dog looks like my little Ace!

Too cute huh!

So I couldn't decide on the sentiment, so I will bring the one

 that came with the set and you can stamp it on the inside of your card

 if you would like.

Paris in the springtime.

I have had this Tim Holtz stamp and die set for quite some time now.

I have made several attempts in the past to use it unsuccessfully. 

Well today I was determined.

I went through several versions before I settled on this one.

I don't know why I am having so much difficulty with this set.

Maybe I need a trip back to Paris, it's been a while.

Today I will share a neat trick with giving the Eiffel Tower dimension.

Today I tried my hand at 

"Water coloring the Art Impressions way"

I have watched several of their videos

 and have been collecting their various stamps.

Today's card is a very simple version of their technique.

I was quite surprised of the outcome of my first attempt.

They really do break it down for you.

I used the following colors of distress markers & pads

bundled sage

crushed olive

forest moss

vintage photo

rusty hinge

pumice stone

Feel free to substitute the greens and browns for similar colors.
