This year I have been experimenting in Art Journaling, mixed media and altered art.

So naturally I've been doing a lot of reading. 

While some people this art just comes naturally, there are others who have 

developed a process.

Normally my art is very structured, symmetrical and linear, 

so all this is way out of the box for me.

So today's card is a monochromatic collage,

using inks, stencils and stamps,

and layers, that's something I have been working on!

This week I decided to try a new technique

(at least for me)

You need a lined stamp with open space,

after digging through everything and not really finding what I was looking for

 I settled on this stamp from Heartfelt Creations. 

Bought it last year at the convention and it still had it's paper backing on!

Time to ink it up!

The technique is called floating reinker water coloring.

The thing that appealed to me is that it is out of your control, 

yeah you pick the colors and drop them down

 but after that every piece will look differently.

So here's the one that I did.

Then I started thinking, how about stains and sprays, oh my!

We'll have to save that for another time.

and foam blending tool

Hot off the table here's Tuesday's card.

My gal Jennifer did it again!

She created a window with dies & matching stamps,

duh why didn't I think of that!

So we're using this die & stamp from Hero Arts/Sizzix

but we're cutting a window and stamping inside the card.

The first card I made I colored the stamp with Tim's markers,

then I thought there must be an easier way.

So I pulled out some Cut & Dry Felt and made a custom ink pad.

We did this quite a while back on this card

Custom ink pads are great for mass production, 

you can get approximately 50 cards out of an inking.

This is the card we will be making this Tuesday.

I love the soft look, no black line & no coloring.

And SO easy you won't believe it!

The background stamp is one I picked up at Nancy's quite some time ago.

We will be coloring all the pieces with Tim's wrinkle free distress technique,

an oldie but goodie!

7/30/2013 class @CP2

whew, what a day yesterday!

Long story short after two trips out to Best Buy with my computer 

they finally decided that my mother board died, so no computer.

 I am using Evan's old, old lap top, small and slow but at least I'm not cut off from the world. 

How did we become so dependent?

So I did get Tuesdays card scanned before all this happened.

Last week I bought the new Penny Black die, Single Iris.

Most of my dies consist of basic shapes so this was lots of fun.

This is the first card I made and what we'll be doing on Tuesday.

I also made three others which I didn't get scanned 

but I will bring them with me to class.

The very talented Jennifer McGuire posted a technique that she calls ghost stamping.

It was done with very bold solid stamps, so I searched and found this Hero Art set.

Knew I must have something, lol!

So I tried it in picked raspberry.

 Then I tried a darker color seedless preserves.

Finally in a lighter color ripe persimmon.

I like all three.

Today I'm on Jennifer's blog and she tried the same technique 

with geometric stamps, so cool!

We'll save that for another day!

Today's card is called a Twisted card.

It amazes me how people come up with these designs.

This is perfect for a gift card, check or money.

Since my niece has a birthday coming up I thought

 this would be the perfect time to try it out.

This is the card closed and it fits into an invitation sized envelope, perfect!

This is what it looks like opened, on the right there is a pocket.

Well I was so relaxed about having this weeks card done ahead of time I forgot to post it!

I'm sure next week I'll be sitting here at "0 dark thirty" trying to crank something out!

So for those of you who weren't in class last week we are doing a faux Polaroid.

There are dies you can buy, there are frames you can buy, but I thought 

gosh it's a square in a rectangle, so here's my version. 

I used this Art Impression Stamp that had never seen ink,

I'm quite pleased with the outcome and for using what I have!

Catalog of the Month ~ July Art Impressions

July we will be playing with Art Impressions Stamps.

I have chosen to do two front and back cards, these are so much fun.

The third card is called a Try Fold, and you create a scene that opens.

All three cards I used water color pencils 

so we can concentrate on the mechanics of the cards.

The last class of the month, didn't I just say that two weeks ago?

Today we will be celebrating Evelyn and Caryl Ann's birthdays.

I read a blog post that was titled Stenciled Collages,

I expected more of an art journal/mixed media process.

What I read was a really cool idea for adding color to collage stamp images

without having to color.

I made several samples in several colors,

so today we have some choices.
