Oh my my, is it really August?

We will celebrate August birthdays on the 27th

David, Jenna & Judy!

We will start this month with a new die 

by Sizzix called Drop Ins.

They have several different styles and they have two words

 that you can drop into the frame and it cuts in in one piece.

Today's card I used the word hello.

We will be stamping the piece behind the frame.

I used watercolor pencils on one and markers on the other.

 

 And the third a piece of scrapbook paper I had laying on my desk.

How easy is that!

7/30/2015 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

I came home from class on Saturday and made two shaker cards that won't shake.

Put them aside and looked at the Tim's Perspective stamp set that was sitting on my desk

from last Thursdays card. I used two of the sentiments.

So I began by inking a piece of card stock and had to work really hard to get it smooth.

Why struggle, I pulled out some of the semi gloss paper that I have been using so much.

I also decided it was time to put Tim's new colors to work.

This is what I came up with, pretty happy with the results.

I used cracked pistachio & vintage photo on the background.
I then stamped the numbers with hickory smoke.
the butterfly is inked with fossilized amber and abandoned coral.
The corners are die cut with a Memory Box die.
The card behind the front panel is inked with vintage photo.

So for today's class you will need your basic class kit

including
scissors
any of the above mentioned inks
blending tools
Green wink of stella for the butterfly body

7/23/2015 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

Today's class the focus is on the background.

We are using distress inks, foam blending tools and stencils.

Scraps Galore just got in a bunch of the newer Tim Holtz stencils.

So not only did I need most of them I had to play with them.

4 or 5 card backs are in my trash can,

but I have 5 samples that I am happy with.

All of these are done with one color of distress ink and one stencil.

This is a symmetrical stencil and easy to continue the design across the card

There was no matching up this one but your eye sees it as the same pattern

This one was also asymmetrical, but it did match the flow of the flourishes. 

My final sample for today is using two colors (twisted citron & mermaid lagoon)

and the symmetrical stencil.

7/16/2015 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

Today we're using an Art Impressions set called Maturing.

I just love these AI people.

This set is part of their Front & Back series.

Looks like quite a party!

This will be my masculine card for this month,

the set is gender neutral. 

I just paired it with masculine color papers.

Please bring your basic class kit including

watercolor pencils (or favorite coloring medium)

paint brush/water brush

spray bottle with water

non stick craft mat

brown edger

That should do it.

7/9/2015 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

Today's card is quite simple,

but I wanted to introduce to you a new product on the market.

Ken Oliver's Color Burst.
Basically they are intense watercolor powders.
There are a variety of ways to use them,
today we will be doing the spritz & sprinkle.
I've paired this with the Memory Box Butterfly Reverse die.
On my final sample I used homemade glitter mist,
of course this is my favorite.
(Hard to see in the picture.)

These sold out quickly at Scraps Galore,

7/2/2015 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

It's July!

This weeks card is a special shape card called a "Book Card"

If you look at the inside pop up it resembles an open book.

There are so many possibilities with the card.

I kept it fairly simple using an image from Tim's coffee set on the cover.

The images and sentiment are from a Fiskars set.

Please bring your basic class kit

including

bone folder

watercolor pencils (or preferred medium)

water brush or brush

non stick craft mat

brown edger

Next Thursday 7/9 we will celebrate Linda's birthday.

6/25/2015 Thursday's at Scraps Galore

Today's card I was playing with some

 leftover paper from my daughters portfolio.

It's semi gloss on both sides and

it took the ink nicely.

i also used Stampendous stamps which just happen to be

 the catalog of the month!

You still have time to shop or place your orders

I used a sponge dauber and twisted citron for the oval.

I brayered mermaid lagoon on the background.

Love these two colors together!

I then add a bit of wink of stella to the dragonfly.

Time for our monthly masculine card.

I fell in love with this spellbinder die,

Contemporary Circles, 

I think there are so many possibilities and 

I love contemporary things and 

it's so clean and simple.

Now if only I could live that way!

So today is another two for one days.

Bring a baggie or extra card stock and 

you will have enough leftover pieces to make another card.
